About This Satellite
The GOES 6 apogee kick motor was retrieved by the Space Shuttle Discovery crew during mission STS-51-A in November 1984, becoming one of the few objects deliberately returned from orbit.
GOES 6 AKM is a cataloged satellite tracked under NORAD ID 14069 with international designator 83041C. According to the GCAT master catalog, it was built by THKE, on the Star 27 platform, with a launch mass of about 440 kg, with a shape described as Cyl.
